Even the smallest capacities are transported in the safest means possible with the Blue Bird Micro Bird. The Micro Bird is offered on Ford and General Motors chassis with both diesel and gasoline powered engines available. Capacity is up to 30 passengers.
The Blue Bird body takes advantage of the latest industry technology, increasing capacity and fuel economy with lightweight, ultra-strong corrosion resistant aluminum body panels. Combined with a heavy-duty steel roll cage, Blue Bird once again goes to the head of the class for safety and strength in the small bus market. Energy absorbing rubber body mounting pads and acoustical ceilings provide the passengers the most comfortable ride in the industry.
The Micro Bird School Bus is available with the following features:
- Available on a Ford or GM chassis with gas or diesel engines
- Floor plans with or without wheelchair lift and a flat floor design available for maximum wheelchair positions
- Available with air conditioning, cruise control, automatic transmission, tilt steering and tinted windows
In October 2009, Girardin entered into a joint venture with Blue Bird. The partnership, named Micro Bird, Inc. will end production of the current Micro Bird model (in production since 1975) to consolidate all Type A school bus production at the current Girardin facilities in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada.
